Long walks after days of traveling are coming to an end at Dallas Love Field.

Airport officials recently announced that its rideshare location will move closer to the terminals starting in January 2025.

The news comes following changes to the pick-up area last year that forced passengers to walk an estimated 9 minutes from the lower level roadway of the airport to Level One of the nearby Garage B.

The area will now move to a “location near the current valet pavilion on the terminal’s southeast side,” a memo sent to Dallas City Council members, WFAA reported.

Why is the rideshare location changing?

Dallas Love Field assistant municipal manager Deve Rastogi said numerous passenger complaints were the reason behind the relocation.

He described the feedback as “extreme dissatisfaction.”

Before passengers can start using the new spot, the airport said it needs to build more staging lanes, update its signs, and upgrade the waiting area.

“Although this site has the potential to create bottlenecks in traffic flow upon exiting the valet pavilion during peak periods, mitigation tactics are in progress to minimize disruptions,” Rastogi wrote. in the memo.

How will the change impact parking prices?

A downside to the change is a parking lot price increase. Garage A prices will go up from $16 to $24.

Parking in Garage B and C’s open areas will cost $18 and $20 (previously $10 and $13, respectively). The lot’s covered spaces will cost $21 (rather than the previous $13 in Garage B and $16 in Garage C).

According to the memo, valet parking will also increase to $35, while premium parking in Garage C will cost $30.

“DAL garages continue to reach capacity,” Rastogi said. “Being landlocked and no current available space to build, another parking garage lot is not possible.”

When will new Dallas Love Field parking rates begin?

The airport said changes to the parking fees, which have increased twice since 2020, will take effect on October 18.

Rastogi said Dallas currently has approximately 12,000 parking spaces for nearly 18 million customers.

“DAL’s parking rates remain the least expensive among Texas commercial airports,” Rastogi said.
