A 27-year-old man was shot to death late on Sunday, Oct. 13, as he was driving a sport utility vehicle through the parking lot of an Arlington apartment complex, police said.

The man was fired upon about 11 p.m. in the 2100 block of Wilcrest Drive, off East Pioneer Parkway near Sherry Street, Arlington police said.

An officer found the man slumped inside a Ford Edge. The SUV was left in drive, pocked with bullet holes and appeared to have struck several parked vehicles.

The man, whose name the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has not released, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police on Oct. 13 did not have information about the assailant. No witnesses reported seeing the shooting.

Based on evidence recovered at the scene, police said that it appeared drug activity was involved.

Police asked anyone with information about the killing to call Detective Anthony Stafford at 817-459-5739. A person may offer information anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at 817-469-8477.
