He did his duty, and he what he did today is what law enforcement expects out of all of our officers, and he did it well," said Sheriff Waybourn.A 911 call came from inside the credit union just after 3:30 p.m. saying the off-duty Tarrant County sheriff's deputy had been shot while working security.Sheriff Waybourn said the deputy was shot once in the lower abdomen and once in the chest.Video from outside the credit union shows the front windows of the credit union shattered.Sheriff Waybourn confirmed Deputy Brown did return fire after the suspect shot him. It is unclear how many rounds were exchanged.After a brief manhunt, police confirmed a suspect was in custody. He has since been identified as 35-year-old Leland Williams.About a half-mile away from the shooting scene, SKY 4 captured Fort Worth police officers and SWAT surrounding a home off Lynnwood Hills Drive.An armored SWAT truck was staged on the back side of the house."I saw the street blocked off. I didn’t know what was going on," said Lee Wesley who lives in the area.Williams is now in the Tarrant County jail charged with attempted capital murder of a peace officer.
