How about a free hot dog on July 4th? This Fort Worth eatery is giving out 220 of them

A Fort Worth eatery is ringing in the Fourth of July by offering free hot dogs and American flags.

This is the fourth year in a row that Curly’s Frozen Custard will hand out free franks on July 4. The restaurant previously held hot dog eating contests on Independence Day but switched to free giveaways in 2020. This year’s freebies also marks the eatery’s 22 years in business.

Hot dog fans can pick up their freebie at the drive-through or walk-up window at 4017 Camp Bowie Blvd. starting at 11 a.m. on July 4. No purchase is required, and there is a one hot dog limit per person.

A new addition to this year’s hot dog giveaway, is that every free frank also comes with a miniature American flag.

“We have received so much positive feedback throughout the past four years that customers appreciated a free hot dog on our nation’s birthday,” said Bourke Harvey, Curly’s founder and managing partner. “These are the same quarter-pound Nathan’s Famous hot dogs that Curly’s has become famous for, so this is a Texas-sized treat.”

While at the counter or drive-through window, Harvey recommends ordering one of Curly’s signature frozen custard.

“Parker County Peach is a signature flavor for us,” Harvey said. “We have become known for Fort Worth’s favorite frozen treats numerous times, and our Parker County Peach flavor has helped create that reputation, along with our delicious concretes and ice cream sandwiches.”

“Mad Men” actor Jon Hamm and wife Anna Osceola were spotted at Curly’s back in early March, where they ordered a mint chocolate chip frozen custard with KitKat. Hamm was in town shooting “Landman,” the latest television series from Taylor Sheridan.

Curly’s Frozen Custard is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 4.
