The UNT Health Science Center at Fort Worth’s Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine has been named one of the nation’s best medical schools for primary care by U.S. News & World Report.

The Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine was one of 15 schools on the U.S. News’ Tier 1 list. The school was ranked 11th by U.S. News & World Report in 2023.

The Texas Tech Health Sciences Center was also on the list for primary care. UT Southwestern and the Baylor School of Medicine were ranked among the best 15 for research.

U.S News & World Report said it evaluated the schools based on resources and the academic achievement of incoming students. Grants were considered for the research rankings and graduate placement and practice were counted in the primary list.

“This is a remarkable accomplishment and recognition for TCOM and a credit to the amazing work and dedication of our faculty, staff, alumni and students,” said Dr. Frank Filipetto, TCOM dean and Everett endowed professor. “Commitment to our osteopathic foundational principles has propelled TCOM’s growth into the premier medical school in Texas and nationwide. This is something with which everyone associated with TCOM can be proud.”
