A former Fort Worth Police chief is suing the city for his termination, but he may also be having issues at his current job.

Fort Worth fired Joel Fitzgerald back in 2019. He had been kicked out of the combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas and got into an argument with the group's president during an event in Washington DC.

Fitzgerald sued the city, saying he was investigating the violations of federal regulations and was about to meet with the FBI. Fort Worth denied allegations in its response to the suit, but the city council could talk about a settlement during meetings in August.

Fitzgerald has since become police chief of the Public Transit Authority in Denver, Colorado, but he's been on leave from that job since the beginning of July while an outside firm investigates policy violations there. Those could include him driving an unmarked police car more than a hundred miles an hour more than a dozen times over six months.
