Yukon Slide Blocks Skagway Visitors
The weather forecast predicted mild flooding. But on Tuesday afternoon, travelers in the Yukon found multiple rockslides in their way. No injuries were reported. About 130 cruise passengers on a Yukon and White Pass Route railroad tour were unable to return to their ship in Skagway. A rock slide blocked the train tracks near lake Bennett. The train took the travelers back to Carcross. Holland America, the cruise company with which they were traveling, dispatched buses to pick up the visitors.

Medical student gets firsthand training in Bethel
Stephen Compton, the son of Bethel’s Dr. David Compton, is an Alaska WWAMI medical student. WWAMI stands for “Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho”, and since July 1st, Compton has been training closely with Dr. Megan Young at Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Regional Hospital in Bethel as part the Rural Underserved Opportunities Program (RUOP), a month-long elective for WWAMI medical students interested in rural medicine.

United Airlines flights make emergency landings in Ketchikan
A United Airlines flight bound for Fairbanks made an emergency landing in Ketchikan on Saturday — and was soon followed by another United plane. Flight 1850 left Denver at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening. United Airlines said that while in the air, a passenger experienced a medical issue. That’s when the plane was diverted to the Ketchikan International Airport.

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks hockey program is set to host its Elite Pre Tryout Camp featuring Edgeboss on July 30-August 1 at the Patty Ice Arena.
