HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. — A woman has died after a crash in Hancock County, according to law enforcement officials.

Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 11:14 p.m. on Friday to State Road 234 and County Road 50 West in Fortville on a report of a multiple-vehicle crash.

Upon arrival to the scene, first responders called for the Hancock County Fatal Accident Crash Team due to the severity of the crash.

According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, the crash involved a 2019 Ford Escape and a 2004 Chevy Aveo. The Ford was traveling east on State Road 234 towards Wilkinson. The Chevy was traveling north on County Road 50 towards Fortville.

The driver of the Chevy was pronounced dead at the scene and has only been identified as a woman. The driver of the Ford was transported to an area hospital by officials with non-life-threatening injuries.

A witness remained on the scene and provided officers with a statement. Drugs and alcohol are not a suspected factor at this time, according to officers.

The area was closed for around two hours while the scene was under investigation.
