ROCHESTER — The New Hampshire Department of Justice announced Monday it is asking the public to share any information they might have about the 2020 Labor Day weekend homicide of Michael Kenneth Mowry III, who was 19 when he was found fatally shot in his bedroom in Rochester.

Investigators say the teenager, who was in his home at 64 Monroe Drive, Apartment 1, in Rochester, was the victim of a home invasion robbery around 3 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020, by four men wearing masks, according to Attorney General John Formella .

Other "young residents living in the apartment with Mowry have been interviewed, cooperative, and are not considered suspects by law enforcement," according to Formella.

The shooting was reported to 911 around 3:15 a.m., according to Formella. Police officers found Mowry deceased. An autopsy determined his cause of death was a gunshot wound to the neck and the manner of his death a homicide, authorities said.

“Mikie was a generous and loving kid who cherished his family, especially his three younger brothers, who really looked up to him," said Aimee Lussier, Mowry's mother, in a prepared statement provided by the attorney general. "He was incredibly affectionate and gave the best hugs. When we told him we loved him, he always responded, 'I love you more.’ He had just moved into his first apartment and had everything to look forward to. He loved playing baseball and was in talks with a coach from Great Bay about playing for their team. Now, we will never see him play baseball or witness the adult he would have grown into. The agony of his murder has been unbearable, made even harder because we don’t know who did this or why."

Investigators have identified a vehicle used by the suspects, according to the attorney general, and now believe the men responsible for this homicide have ties to the Haverhill, Massachusetts/greater Merrimack Valley area of northeastern Massachusetts.
