The Fountain Hills Town Council will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 13, to canvass and certify the primary election results of July 30.

Maricopa County Elections Department released the final numbers on Aug. 5, however, those numbers do not become official until the council votes to certify them.

The council will meet at 5:30 p.m. in council chambers at Town Hall.

The election will go to a runoff with the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 5. On that ballot incumbent Mayor Ginny Dickey is being challenged by current Councilman Gerry Friedel for the mayor’s office.

One of the three expiring seats on the council was filled at the primary election and will be held by Gayle Earle. There will be four candidates for the remaining two seats to include Clayton Corey, Matthew Corrigan, incumbent Councilwoman Peggy McMahon and Rick Watts.
