Scott: The many accomplishments of Mayor Dickey

Councilman Gerry Friedel claims he wants to return government to the people. He touts financial acumen – presumably including his yes vote for every budget under Mayor Dickey – and proclaims “Fountain Hills First,” saying choose him. So, what does he dislike so much that has happened during his four-year term or Dickey’s six years as mayor? Why is she a better choice?

The town has invested more in streets in the last six years than during any other time in Fountain Hills history without a bond. That was under Dickey.

The town has an award-winning park program, new splash and skate parks, added sidewalks, renovated Centennial Circle, pathways and Fountain lights. With Dickey at the wheel.

The town has its first emergency room. Dickey supported that.

The town watches the construction of the International Dark Sky Discovery Center. Dickey and others were instrumental in that effort.

The town partnered with the Sanitary District to build two new restrooms while helping solve the district’s well problems. FHSD is constructing the last well and remodeling the presidents’ pavilion in the process. Sounds a lot like a Dickey accomplishment to me.

The town has transitioned significant employee changes in just the last year. Who helped make that happen? It was Dickey.

The town is working through upgrades to the Community Center. Dickey has made sure those improvements have been addressed, within budget.

The town has a Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Committee. That was Dickey's idea.

The town has presented at least four “FH Cares” forums. Yep, it's a Dickey thing.

The town won a lawsuit defending the legal actions of the town clerk. Dickey voted to support it. Friedel voted against it.

I'm ready for a change, too. Let's get rid of Friedel. I'm voting for Ginney Dickey on Nov. 5.
