GROVE, OK – The 54th Bassmaster Classic in Grove, Oklahoma attracted thousands of tourists and competitors on Friday morning.

Tournament fishing began at 7:15 a.m. at Grand Lake O’ The Cherokees, with fisherman required to hit the water at 6:30 a.m. Many tourists and participants consider the event to be the “Super Bowl” of fishing.

“It’s the super bowl of bass fishing,” said tournament Vice President Chris Bowes.

“It’s going to be an awesome tournament, with a $300,000 first place prize. We hope fans come out, as we’ve got two more takeoffs at Wolf Creek, and tons more activities at the BOK Center in Tulsa. We just hope the public comes out and enjoys it.”

While much of the fishing took place in Grove, other festivities took place in Tulsa. The tournament will continue throughout the weekend.
