    Missouri Southern & Pitt State Outdoor Track Set for National Championships

    JOPLIN, MO – Missouri Southern and Pitt State outdoor track and field are set for the national championships taking place Thursday-Saturday.

    Missouri Southern saw 18 athletes qualify, while Pitt State had 40 athletes qualify for the championships.

    For MSSU, Peyton Barton, a key name on Southern’s squad will participate in men’s hammer throw on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. and discus at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Jon Watts will participate in the men’s long jump at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, and Briar Gillum will participate in women’s hammer throw at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

    For Pitt State, Hunter Jones will compete in the men’s decathlon at 10:30 a.m. Junior Kyla Davis will compete in the women’s pole vault at 3 p.m. Mason Strader and Dylan Sprecker will race in the men’s 1500 meters at 5:10 p.m. For results on the championships throughout the weekend CLICK HERE .

    The events will take place at Emporia State University Thursday-Saturday, with men’s decathlon starting at 10:30 a.m.
