JOPLIN, MO- After several hours of play on Wednesday evening, the Joplin Outlaws were crowned Mid-America League champions. After defeating Abilene 11-4, the Outlaws made their way back to Joe Becker Stadium where they were greeted by several fans.

Hosting a ‘welcome back’ party, Outlaws fans cheered on players as they stepped off the bus. The fans celebrated with the team as players hoisted the trophy around stadium grounds. Outlaws outfielder Andre Jackson described the moment as a dream come true.

“Being apart of this team has been a dream come true,” said Jackson.

“I’m so glad I got to have this opportunity, and winning that game yesterday was a blessing. Not everyone can say they’re a champion, but we can.”

Outlaws head coach Brian Daly also spoke on the team’s accomplishment, but also discussed how the community embraced the team throughout leadership changes.

“It was probably a different feel for the community,” said Daly.

“As far as our experiences go, however, everyone has been so accepting from day one. This town has been very supportive and I can’t thank them because without that support, this victory doesn’t happen.”

With 11-4 win over Abilene, the Outlaws are the first ever champion of the Mid-America League.
