MT. VERNON, MO — Mt. Vernon High School hosted three schools as the packed crowd watched all four teams participate in a football jamboree on Friday night.

Mt. Vernon, Neosho, and McDonald county would make up the three local schools participating in the action. The Mountaineers started things off with freshman Jackson Swain rushing it up the far sideline for a touchdown. The Mt. Vernon defense continued riding the team’s momentum with junior Hunter Conway making a big play on the ball for an interception.

On the other side of the field, junior quarterback Ryder Martin put on a show, as he worked his way through a tough defense and into the end zone for a touchdown. Against Neosho, Mustangs quarterback Anthony D’Amico connected with sophomore Bogart for a solid gain in what was a good showing on the night for the Mustangs offense.

For Neosho, it was all about the defense. Senior Hudson Williams batted down a solid pass for a big Wildcat stop. Corbin York would follow up later on with a critical interception as well.

Up next, all Missouri schools will begin their regular seasons on Friday, August 30th. Mt. Vernon will host Aurora, Neosho will travel to Glendale, and Carthage will travel to Waynesville with games starting at 7 p.m.
