QUAPAW, Okla. — Due to significant storm damage to Quapaw School buildings , students will return to campus on September 3.

High winds from the August 16 storm ripped through the Quapaw campuses, damaging HVAC units, roofing, fence, and tree damage and flooding some of the classrooms.

Part of the revised back-to-school plan is the relocation of the upper elementary students since the storm damaged the upper elementary hall, classrooms, cafeteria, gymnasium, and kitchen.

Commerce and Quapaw join forces for a summer back-to-school bash

Third-grade students will meet in the middle school library, fourth-grade students in the classroom immediately adjacent to the high school office, and fifth-grade students in the science lab next to the middle school library.

School officials arrange schedules so elementary students will not be in the same areas as middle and high school students without adult supervision. Academic and bell schedules have been adjusted to ensure student groups do not overlap.

The drop-off for pre-kindergarten through second-grade students is by the front doors of the elementary school; all other students need to be dropped off between the middle and high school.

Pick-up for pre-kindergarten through fifth-grade students who do not ride the bus is in front of the elementary school. Students in third through fifth grades will be bussed from the middle and high school to the elementary school for parent pickup.
