CARTHAGE, MO – Carthage High School hosted a Volleyball Jamboree this afternoon with Nevada, Aurora, and Joplin participating.

Game 1 consisted of Aurora and Carthage and the hosts came out firing to start things off.

London Shepard was the name to be called early in the first set for the Tigers. She got the team up on the board first spiking one down with authority.

Following in Shepard’s foot steps, Elsie Willis found a tight gap in the Aurora defense and landed another point for Carthage.

After two hard sequences from the Tigers, Aurora started to settle in. Lady Tiger Millie Templeman sended one over but it was blocked in the front by Nadia Davis, making things closer in the set.

Aurora would then get another volley in their favor with a great set from Miley Feringa to put Kylee Phelps in position for a spike.

Switching gears over to Game 2, Joplin had a demanding 11-5 lead over Nevada.

Nevada tried to get some offense going but Joplin’s Adalynn Noirfalise had other plans. She came up with a huge block on the near side to extend the Eagles lead 12-5.

Nevada would then start to find their rhythm as Cora Braden elevated and found a gap to strike. However, it was too late as Joplin’s Amy Kessier got the game winning block to close out things in Game 2.

All four programs will officially kick off their seasons at the start of September.
