Identity of woman’s body found in Delaware County released

DELAWARE COUNTY – The remains of a woman were found in a field south of Jay on Sunday, according to Delaware County Sheriff James Beck.

Delaware County authorities released the woman’s name, Stephanie Jeffery, 33, of Shamokin, Penn.

The woman’s manner of death is unknown.

Online court records show Jeffery was charged on Aug. 13 in Delaware County District Court with a misdemeanor charge of domestic abuse – assault and battery. The last court entry shows Jeffery was supposed to return to court on Sept. 23.

Beck said the woman’s remains would be sent to the Tulsa Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.
