JOPLIN, MO – After Joplin’s season came to an end in the district tournament last year, the Eagles looked to start things off right this time around on Tuesday, September 3rd, in their regular season home opener versus Lebanon.

Starting things off in the bottom of the first inning, Joplin’s Jadyn Pankow ripped a shot high into the left center gap.

Racing around third base and in to home plate was Abby Lowery to put the first run of the day up on the board.

Later in the third inning, Lebanon would take the lead 3-2.

Coming up clutch and making stops for the Eagles defense was Lowery. The senior outfielder had herself a day on both sides of the ball.

Still in the third, Lebanon’s Kendall Byee got underneath a fast ball but Gracie Williamson made an acrobatic reach at second base to snag Byee’s hit out of the air.

Turning defense into offense, senior catcher Riley Kelly had herself a day at the plate as well.

She ripped a shot through the hole of shortstop and third base and sent Lowery home once more. Kelly totaled in three hits and three RBI.

Williamson would go on to win Joplin’s traditional “Do Your Job Award” awarded to the Eagle player of the game with two hits, two runs, and two RBI.

Joplin will continue their season at home versus McDonald County on September 5th at 5:00pm.
