WEBB CITY, MO — Webb City Cardinals softball took down Nixa 2-1 in a thrilling win on Tuesday afternoon.

In what was game of defense, Webb City’s Laney Taylor went five innings and struck out four, only allowing one run on the day. The Lady Eagles got the first run on the board in the fifth inning, but Webb City responded defensively with a double play courtesy of the Cardinals’ Chasney Brown.

In the bottom half of the sixth, sophomore Abby Sargent would get the offense rolling for the Cardinals via a double. Lily Hall would follow up with a two-run homer to give Webb City the late lead.

Karsyn Calhoon would strike out two batters, and allow no hits in the final innings to put the game away.

Up next, the Cardinals will travel to take on Waynesville on Thursday, September 5th at 5 p.m.
