    Columbus Football Takes Down Independence 45-28

    COLUMBUS, KS — Columbus Titans football took down the Independence Bulldogs 45-28 on Thursday night.

    Columbus took an early lead in the first quarter, but Independence responded by driving down the field and evening the game up at six. Later on, Independence’s Kumari Clayton gave the Bulldogs the lead via a 65-yard touchdown.

    In the second quarter, the Titans responded with a big gain from junior running back Jett Tanner. Breaking five tackles, Tanner got the Bulldogs near the goal line, putting senior quarterback Jack Vilela in prime position to rush it in for a touchdown.

    The Titans would pile on the points as Columbus took the opener over Independence 45-28.

    Up next, Columbus will host Galena on Friday, September 13th at 7 p.m. and Independence will travel to Mulvane.
