NEOSHO, MO – The Kickapoo Chiefs visited the Neosho Wildcats with another packed crowd in attendance this week.

Before the coin toss, both teams had the treat of being joined by Romeo Lopez, in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Young Romeo greeted both teams at center field and was geared up and ready for kickoff.

Starting things off Kickapoo’s quarterback Ben Johnson dropped back in the pocket and launched a deep ball up the far sideline. Seconds later, that ball was picked off and taken up the field for a huge Wildcat gain by defensive back Bostyn Patterson.

Marching their way down that field after the turnover, Neosho’s Cade Spiva punched one up the middle for a score. He had a pair of rushing TD’s in the first quarter while Neosho dominated the with a 20-0 lead.

Looking to retaliate, the Chiefs came down the field as Johnson threw another deep ball up the near sideline. This time it was caught with a toe tap by Tevin Christian. He secures the crucial catch which put Kickapoo in position to score on this drive.

Chiefs running back Morgan Nicolls would pound his way through the defense for Kickapoo’s first touchdown of the evening.

Kickapoo would go to score again before the half concluded, but in the end, Neosho took the victory 40-27.

Neosho will travel to Lebanon September 13th with kickoff set for 7:00pm, while Kickapoo will host Webb City.
