JOPLIN, MO — The Joplin Eagles move to 2-0 this season after an exciting matchup against the Lebanon Yellow Jackets that came down to the wire.

Lebanon got out to a hot start, shutting the Eagles out in the first half and taking a 14-0 lead into the halftime break.

Both of the Yellow Jackets’ touchdowns were scored in the 2nd quarter by way of a one-yard rushing TD and another score on the ground by RB Jax Glendenning.

Joplin head coach Jasper Curtis must have had a special halftime speech in store for his squad, because the Eagles’ level of play significantly improved in the 2nd half.

Quarterback Daniel Rose connected with wide receiver Colis Jones to open up the scoring for the hosts.

The Eagles’ defense held strong, limiting Lebanon to only a field goal in the second half, giving their offense a chance to mount the comeback.

Joplin scored two 4th quarter touchdowns to complete the comeback and come away with a close win. The Eagles move to 2-0 on the season with Lebanon dropping to 0-2.

Joplin will travel to Nixa next week while Lebanon will play host to Neosho. Both games are set to kick off at 7 p.m. on September 13.
