WEBB CITY, MO — Earning their seventh win of the season, Webb City Cardinals softball came storming back to take an 8-3 win over McDonald County on Monday evening.

The Mustangs bats were hot early on in the matchup. In the top of the third, McDonald County pitcher Dakota O’Brien hammered a shot to deep left that scored Kearston Hopkins to give her team a 1-0 lead. Freshman Shianne Star followed up with a hit to shallow right that scored O’Brien for the Mustangs.

Despite the early lead, the Cardinals remained unfazed. Webb City’s Alivia Nieburg snuck a fly ball in between outfielders in left field to tie the game at two apiece. In the bottom half of the fourth, Lily Hall hammered an RBI double for the Cardinals to give the team its first lead.

Webb City pitcher Addie Burns wrapped up the ballgame with a strikeout, as the Cardinals took the victory at home 8-3.

Up next, Webb City will host Lebanon and McDonald County will host Seneca on Tuesday, September 10 at 5:00 p.m.
