JOPLIN, MO – Looking to continue their undefeated season, the Joplin Eagles boys soccer team hosted the New Heights Cougars on Tuesday, September 10th.

New Heights came into the game starting their season 0-5.

After a 3-1 lead to start the second half, Alex De La Torre timed up a corner kick perfectly off the top of his head and in for another Joplin goal. He had another goal on the afternoon from the first half.

Moving back down the field, De La Torre was looking for Andy Cordova but Cougars Liam Nelson broke up the pass to prevent another Joplin goal.

The New Heights defense was showing resilience after trailing early in the game as Justin Bgoni stopped a shot on goal from going in to continue the defensive momentum.

Next up, trying to create offense was Michael Parrigon. He would be set up by Case Hamlin and rip a shot off the top shelf for a Cougars goal.

Parrigon would go on to score the Cougars third goal as well, however, De La Torre, Duncan Fogerty, and Adam Badr all had goals of their own adding more to Joplin’s total.

The Eagles would go on to win 7-3.

Joplin will continue their season at the Parkview Varsity Tournament September 12th through the 14th, while New Heights will return home to match up against Logan-Rogersville on Thursday, September 12th, at 4:30pm.
