JOPLIN, MO – Starting off their season in dominating fashion, the Joplin Boys Soccer team hosted the Monett Cubs looking for their third consecutive win.

Both teams came into the match each having won five games throughout the season thus far.

Starting off hot in the first two minutes of the game was Ely Montanez. He fired to the right side and found the back of the net giving Joplin the early 1-0 lead, adding a cartwheel celebration. Montanez would go on to score again in the second half.

Coming up big for the Cubs defense was Jose Garcia who would break up the next few shots on goal Joplin attempted.

Joplin started to spark some defense as well as Miles Hogan broke up a shot on goal on the other end.

Trying to turn defense into offense, the Eagles would come racing the other way but another attempt to score was blocked once more by Garcia.

He had a pleather of defensive stops but it wasn’t enough down the stretch as Joplin went on to win 3-0. Adam Bader would go on to score the third goal for the Eagles.

Joplin advanced to 6-1, while Monett fell to 5-4.

The Eagles will hit the road next to play Central Springfield on September 20th at 6:30pm, while Monett will continue their road trip to Cassville on September 17th at 4:30pm.
