JOPLIN, MO – The Joplin Eagles Softball team hosted the Ozark Tigers in hopes of breaking their two game losing streak.

Ozark also came into this one coming off a loss but consisted of a 9-5 record, while Joplin sat at 8-6.

Setting the tone early for the Tigers offense was Allyson Atkinson. She drove a shot straight out of the park for a two run homerun, putting Ozark up 2-0 in the top of the first inning.

The Eagles offense would then try to light a spark of their own on offense as Maria Loum connected with a pitch and dropped it in front of right field for a base hit.

Joplin was unable to score in that inning even with Loum making her way over to third base.

Atkinson would start things off in the top of the second inning with runners on all three bases and crush another shot out of the park for a grand slam. That put the Tigers up 6-0 in only the first two innings.

Loum would eventually close out the inning by catching a fly ball over on at shortstop, while Ozark keep the momentum of the bats going winning 13-2.

Joplin will head on the road next to play Nixa on September 19th, at 5:00pm, while Ozark returns home to match up with Neosho.
