CARTHAGE, MO — The Carthage Tigers are off to a hot start this high school football season with a perfect 3-0 record thus far.

Not only are the Tigers winning games, they are dominating. Carthage has outscored its opponents 146-27 through three games, but the Tigers will certainly be put to the test on Friday against a tough Nixa Eagles squad.

The Eagles have had a rather dominant start to their season as well, also posting a 3-0 record while outscoring opponents 153-35 trough three weeks.

In order to be the best, you have to beat the best, and Carthage head coach Jon Guidie is looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead for his group.

“What a great opportunity that we have, you know, to be playing such a good quality football team week four of the season,” Guidie said. “It’s going to be great for our kids. It’s going to be a huge atmosphere. We talk to them about the fact that it’s going to be similar to a playoff atmosphere.”

Guide also mentioned that the week of preparation leading up to Friday’s pivotal matchup has been no different than any other week. Keeping a routine and a level head regardless of the opponent is key for the Tigers’ preparation.

As senior defensive tackle Nolan Brown put it, Carthage just needs to “stay the course” and not worry about the other team’s record.

“I mean, it’s another challenge, but we’re not going to go out there and treat it like it’s a big challenge,” Brown said. “We’re going to stay the course and we’re going to we’re going to do our thing and let it show who we are. This group just wants to win. That’s all it is. We just we got a lot of dogs and we’re ready to go. Nobody’s holding us back.”

With kickoff set for 7 p.m. on Friday, it’s safe to say the Tigers are ready for their toughest matchup of the season to date.

“I’m just ready for the dogfight,” said senior defensive tackle Trevor Meadows.
