Joplin Football Bounces Back With Big Win Against Glendale

JOPLIN, MO — Coming off a tough 49-0 loss against a tough Nixa squad last time out, the Joplin Eagles bounced back with a big 45-21 win over the Glendale Falcons.

The Eagles had several breakaway touchdowns in this one and several contributors on both sides of the ball.

Friday’s contest saw standout performances by Joplin’s Davin Thomas and Collis Jones, as both players brought down an INT and recorded a receiving TD in the first half.

Thomas’ TD came in the red zone while Jones’ score was taken in from more than 60 yards out. That wasn’t the only long TD in this one, as Toryn Jones also broke off a 50+ yard rushing touchdown on a handoff up the middle.

The Falcons made some big plays of their own such as a full-field kick return touchdown after facing a 28-7 deficit. However, the Joplin offense was too much to handle for Glendale.

Friday’s 45-point performance marks Joplin’s highest-scoring game this season, moving the Eagles to 3-1 on the year.

For Glendale, the Falcons move to 0-4 this season.

Both squads will be back in action next week, with Joplin hosting Republic and Glendale hitting the road to take on Kickapoo. Both games are set for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
