ANDERSON, MO – History was made in McDonald County as their high school launched the first-ever Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet honoring pioneers and icons of McDonald County sports.

The Hall of Fame Class of 2024 consists of Sue Thomas Buttram, Charles Harvey, Ladonna Wilson McClain, Bruce Stancell, and Susan Nyander Sutton.

The Coaches included were Jerry Davis and Jack Shaver, along with the 1981 and 1983 Women’s Basketball teams. Capping off the inductees, a long time contributor to Mcdonald County Athletics, Rick Peck.

President of the Hall of Fame board Kim Harrell mentions that “…this is the boards way of ensuring that these athletes, coaches, and contributors achievements will live on forever and be celebrated for years to come.”

McDonald County’s Athletic Director Bo Bergon added, “…we were setting up yesterday and there was a bunch of kids that walked through the gym and were like, ‘what’s going on?’ I was happy to tell them what we had planned. I hope that it inspires some of our current and future Mustangas to achieve greatness and show them that anything is possible.”

“It gives [the Mustang athletes] something to stride for and to understand that nothing is impossible. A lot of dreams came true on this court and in this gym,” Two time state champion and Hall of Fame inductee Ladonna McClain says.

“Nobody was thinking about this kind of stuff down the road and lord we’re grandparents now. It’s just kind of fun being able to recall the fabulous memories from the past,” Two time state champion and Hall of Fame inductee Sue Buttram adds.

The turn out of the event was a huge success and if you find yourself wondering the halls of McDonald County High School, you will see eight new faces up on the wall, all thanks to their hardwork and dedication to their school and their sport.
