FAIRLAND, OK — The Fairland Owls and Howe Lions faced off at Fairland high school on Thursday in day one of the Super Regional playoff round.

The Lions took game one in a close one, 3-2, but Fairland battled back to secure a close 5-4 win of their own in game two.

The Owls’ bats were hot out of the gate in game two, with Laken McCoy opening things with a double before Aubrey Kinsey brought her home with a sacrifice fly to take a 1-0 lead in the first.

In the second inning, Fairland added to their lead thanks to a Gracin Riggs RBI single out to right field.

Fairland made several quality defensive plays to hold Howe scoreless in the first few innings while the offense continued to click early.

Kinsey once again delivered in the third inning with an RBI single to bring in Josilynn Wyrick for a 3-0 lead through three.

Howe’s bats woke up late in this one, but it was too little too late. Fairland takes the 5-4 win and these teams will face off once more on Friday, October 4 to determine the Super Regional champion.
