GROVE, OK — The Grove Ridgerunners hosted the Cushing Tigers for their annual homecoming, erasing a 14-point deficit to come out on top 28-21.

Cushing built a 14-0 lead by the second quarter, but the Ridgerunners’ offense stepped up immediately after trailing by two scores.

The comeback was sparked by a defensive play, as senior Aiden Davis picked off Cushing QB Roman Tucker to give his squad some much-needed momentum.

The Ridgerunners got on the board just before the halftime whistle thanks to an Isaac Sheffield reception touchdown.

That momentum would carry over into the second half, as Grove went on to secure a 28-21 win to improve to 5-0 this season.

Both squads are back in action next Friday, with Grove taking on Fort Gibson and Cushing taking on Oologah. Both games are slated to kickoff at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 11.
