CARL JUNCTION, MO — A big time battle took place in Carl Junction on Wednesday afternoon. The Bulldogs squared off against the visiting Nevada Tigers, as CJ was trying to get above .500 on the year and Nevada was eyeing win number 19.

Early on, Nevada’s bats were threatening an early score. With runners aboard, Nevada’s Ella Heathman hit a sharp ground ball to Kiley Spencer, and Spencer corralled it and threw it right back to her catcher for the out at home.

Later on, with a runner at first, Carl Junction’s Jazmyne Blaney made a terrific throw to her first baseman for the pickoff play. Madi Olds applied the tag, and the Bulldogs were able to get out of the inning.

Defense ruled the afternoon, as Nevada’s Peyton Eaton came to play. The senior finished her afternoon with 8 strikeouts, and Spencer recorded 11 strikeouts.

The game stayed tight between both sides, but Eaton’s fifth inning three-run homer was the difference maker as Nevada prevailed in the 5-0 win.

Up next, Carl Junction will host West Plains and Nevada will travel to Aurora on Thursday, October 10 at 4:30 p.m.
