Initially trailing 3-0 in a winner-take-all game three, Miami’s Logan Chaney hammered a 2-run home run to left field to put the Wardogs on the board in the second inning. With two outs and the bases loaded, a wild sequence of events took place with Hayden Pilkinton at the plate. The second baseman slammed a fly ball into left field that gave the Wagoner outfielders trouble.

Pilkinton quickly rounded the bases and made it home, scoring an inside-the-park grand slam for Miami. Taking the lead 6-3, Miami’s offense never looked back as the Wardogs also saw home runs from Maycee Rhinehart and Sidney Forrester.

Junior D’Naya Green went the distance for the Wardogs in the circle. The UMKC commit allowed six hits and struck out two through seven innings pitched.

Up next, Miami will participate in the state tournament in Oklahoma City. Dates and times for the state tournament have yet to be determined.
