JOPLIN, MO – The Joplin Eagles have a chip on their shoulder heading into Week 6 of their season after a close overtime loss to Carthage last week 23-20.

This loss put the Eagles at 3-3 on the season.

Joplin didn’t have the start they were hoping for trailing by a large margin early on, but resilience was what clawed them back down the stretch.

Throughout the contest there were multiple highlight players from quarterback Daniel Rose and receivers Davin Thomas and Toryn Jones.

This loss also gave the Eagles their second in a row.

“We just didn’t do enough to get over the hump after starting off slow,” Head coach Curtis Jasper says. “[Carthage] made a great goal line stand and we need to be able to respond and get the ball across the goal line ourselves.”

“I think we needed to stay more focused,” senior Toryn Jones mentions. “We’re going to fix that for this week.”

“Most of our loses have been off self inflicting things,” senior Collis Jones adds. “I think overall these last three games we can bounce back.”

Joplin will kick things off with Neosho October 11th at 7:00pm.
