    Suspect in custody following fatal shooting in Frontenac

    FRONTENAC, Kan. — One Frontenac man is dead and another is behind bars after what investigators say began as a dispute last night.

    Police arrested Michael Simpson, 19, of Frontenac on suspicion of second-degree murder.

    Investigators with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office say around 8:20 last night, Frontenac police received a 911 call reporting shots fired.

    When they arrived on the scene, they say they found Jonathan Brewer, 39, unconscious at a neighbor’s residence.

    Brewer was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Investigators say preliminary information indicates Simpson and Brewer were involved in a dispute.

    Formal charges against Simpson are pending.
