CHEROKEE COUNTY, Kan. (KSNF/KODE) — The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident at a construction site that left one person dead.

Shortly before 11 Monday morning, emergency crews responded to Southeast 90th Street and Southeast Wyandotte Road, east of Crestline.

Cherokee County sheriff deputies said an excavator was unloading lumber from a semi-truck when it shifted, landing on the driver of the semi-truck, who had gotten out of the vehicle.

Authorities identified the driver as Scott Lang. 50, from Thornfield, Missouri. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
