CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — Strengthening local law enforcement response is the goal for a project at a local police force.

The Carl Junction Police Department is developing a mutual aid agreement with Carterville Police. It’s the latest in a series of similar agreements with Jasper County, Joplin Police, and Webb City Police.

Carl Junction Police Chief Mark McCall says it’s important to sign mutual aid agreements for those times of crisis when a broader law enforcement response is needed.

“For an emergency management situation – for those further out agencies. you know if it’s an emergency — law enforcement we’re going to want the closest people and Jasper somebody like that is a bit far out for that. but if it is an emergency situation like tornadoes, then that’s what we would be looking at,” said McCall.

Carl Junction Police expect to pursue even more mutual aid agreements in the future – possibly with the Carthage, Oronogo, and Jasper Police Departments.
