“It’s different,” Fan favorite returning to 2024 Maple Leaf Parade

CARTHAGE, Mo. — This year’s Maple Leaf Parade will feature the return of a crowd favorite — bananas.

Employees of Carthage’s Fast Monkey Auto say they were looking for something different to give out at last year’s parade… and settled on the idea of bananas.

Owner Jason Cornett says they gave out 2,000 of them last year — but ran out before the end of the parade. To keep that from happening again this year, they’re bringing 3,000 with them. Cornett says he believes it’s popular because it’s different.

“It just shows that it’s different, you know, everybody at every parade everywhere gets candy, so something different, bananas, nobody even thinks they’re going to get a piece of fruit versus a box of Nerds,” said Cornett.
