ANDERSON, MO — Monett Cubs softball took on Bolivar in the Class 4 District 6 tournament at McDonald County on Thursday night.

With runners on in the top of the second, Mikaela Guerra put down a bunt which was fielded right in front of home plate by Bolivar’s catcher. The ensuing throw to first base hit Guerra, but Alexia Jo-Sullivan came home to score for Monett. The Cubs lead early 1-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, with Bolivar threatening, Monett senior second baseman Abigail Inman made a terrific play to track down a tough fly ball just outside of the infield. Making multiple big plays on the night, her efforts would keep the Cubs ahead.

Monett’s Kilee Wilson would also have a great night in the circle for the Cubs. Going six innings, striking out five, Wilson made good work of Bolivar’s hitters. However, later on in the game, the Liberators offense opened up and walked off Monett in the seventh to take the 3-2 win.

The Cubs finish their season with a 17-10 record.
