TOPEKA, KS — Still in search of their second win on the season, Missouri Southern made the trip to Washburn on Saturday afternoon to face the Ichabods.

Washburn got on the board first via a screen pass from Keller Hurla. The touchdown was the first of three for the Ichabods in the first quarter. Trailing 21-0 after one, Southern quarterback Luke Sampson scrambled to put the Lions on the board 21-7.

The Lions defense gave up some big plays on the day, but they also were able to force three turnovers via a Mason Rumsey forced fumble and Diego Oliver interception. Despite the successes on defense, the momentum stayed with the Ichabods as Tylan Crochett scored on the jet sweep to make it 28-7 before the half.

In the second half, Sampson was able to find Trace Willhite in the end zone for the touchdown, but it would be too little too late, as MSSU fell to Washburn 42-21.

Up next, Missouri Southern will travel to face Fort Hays State on Saturday, October 26, at 1:00 p.m.
