WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The boil water advisory for the City of Fowler in Meade County has been lifted.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment rescinded the order on Thursday. The advisory was issued on July 12 after a water line break caused a loss in pressure . Water service was briefly turned off in Fowler while crews repaired the break.

The advisory remained in place until testing was completed to determine if the water was safe to consume again. A loss in pressure in water systems can decrease chlorine residuals, which prevents the development of bacteria.

The KDHE says laboratory testing of water from the City of Fowler water system showed no signs of bacteria. Anyone who may have questions can contact the City of Fowler water system at 620-646-5231 or the KDHE at 785-296-5514 .
