Man carrying machete and handgun shot dead in Riverton

A man wearing a bulletproof vest while carrying a machete and a handgun was killed in a Riverton townhome complex early Monday during an overnight shooting.

Riverton police found the 19-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds after responding to reports of gunfire near 13500 Skipperling Lane at around midnight.

The unidentified man was transported to the hospital where he later died. According to police, some of the gunshots had gone through the victim's bulletproof vest.

Two people, a 20-year-old and 24-year-old, were taken into custody as persons of interest in the shooting, but have been released.
