    Fort Smith student wins $25,000 scholarship from Taco Bell

    FORT SMITH, Ark. ( KNWA/KFTA ) — A senior at Southside High School in Fort Smith wins a $25,000 scholarship from Taco Bell.

    Tzideny Romero works at the Taco Bell on Highway 71 in Fort Smith. Romero applied to the company’s Live Mas Scholarship and won.

    Romero says she was shocked when she found out she had won the scholarship.

    “When I opened it and saw the $25,000, I yelled and my parents were like ‘What happened? What’s wrong?’ And I was like, ‘I got the scholarship!'”

    Romero plans to attend Yale University to pursue her passion for social justice with a focus on international or ethnic studies.
