LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – There is renewed pressure from state lawmakers for an Arkansas Board of Corrections member to resign.

State lawmakers have pushed for months for Alonza Jiles to step down from the board amid allegations in lawsuits from victims of sexual assault at an Arkansas youth treatment center called The Lord’s Ranch that he is accused of covering up for decades.

Jiles has not taken any calls from FOX 16 News or legislators, and his attorney told FOX 16 News Wednesday morning that he has no comment on whether Jiles will be stepping down from his board position.

State Reps. Howard Beaty (R-Crossett) and Kendon Underwood (R-Cave Springs), along with State Sen. Ben Gilmore (R-Crossett), spoke to FOX 16 News on Wednesday about their push for Jiles to resign, with the trio emphasizing they believe it is past time Jiles steps down considering the allegations that they all find “concerning.”

The lawmakers added that there could be more hearings where Jiles is questioned over his refusal to step down.

In the past, Jiles has not shown up to hearings where he was requested unless he was subpoenaed.

One of the allegations says he presided over a minors wedding. He says he never performed weddings. No pictures at a wedding? It's interesting so many are pushing & they called the media over allegations. It should take more than an allegation to have someone step down. But if that's all it takes, this level of pressure isn't given to everyone as protective of lawmakers AR media is. Now the Gov involved... yea it's orchestrated. I guess Sarah wants a friend on the board.
