LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A landmark Little Rock institution has announced its education plans for the coming school year.

The Clinton Presidential Center announced Wednesday it had created programs for students and educators for the 2024-2025 school year. The programs are designed to encourage civic engagement and service for participants.

The new programs include a special tour celebrating the center’s 20th anniversary. The program for K-12 students will teach about the nature of presidential libraries, what makes them unique, and what they all have in common.

In October, the center will offer “How to Have Difficult Conversations,” which will teach listening and respectful responses using the curriculum and faculty from the Clinton School of Public Service.

From March 10-14, civics learning week, the center will offer a “Civics for All of Us” virtual program to build civic leadership and engagement. The program is developed through a partnership between the Clinton Library and the National Archives.

“As one of only 15 presidential libraries in the country, the Clinton Center is positioned to provide students with distinctive educational opportunities usually reserved for those who live in larger metropolitan areas,” Clinton Presidential Library and Museum director Jay Barth said. “That kind of access for the young people of his home state was one of the reasons President Clinton decided to locate his library here and why we prioritize educational programming focused on how youth can use their skills and talents to effectively engage in the civic arena.”

Regular tours of the center adapted to specific grade levels will continue to be available throughout the school year.

Also, the center’s annual Ideas Matter Scholarship Essay Contest is accepting entries through Jan. 27, 2025, with winners announced in March. High school juniors and seniors may submit a minimum 1,500-word essay on innovative solutions to pressing challenges to compete for an $8,500 scholarship.

Accredited professional development programs for educators are also offered throughout the year.
