    ASP troopers arrest Alabama man after finding $4.8 million worth of methamphetamine, fentanyl & marijuana during traffic stop

    POPE COUNTY, Ark. – Arkansas State Police troopers arrested an Alabama man after troopers said they found more than $4 million worth of illegal drugs during a traffic stop in Pope County.

    According to ASP officials, state troopers stopped a vehicle on Interstate 40 for a traffic violation on Monday, Aug. 26.

    After searching the vehicle, special agents said the troopers found 88 bundles of methamphetamine, weighing more than 100 pounds. Troopers said they also found two pounds of fentanyl pills and a bag of illegal marijuana.

    According to ASP officials, the estimated street value of the drugs is about $4.8 million.

    Special agents said troopers arrested the driver, 52-year-old Anthony Reese, from Midfield, Alabama.

    Reese was taken to the Pope County Detention Center, where he is facing charges of trafficking controlled substance, trafficking fentanyl, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
