    Maumelle police says social media post is believed not to be a threat to local schools

    MAUMELLE, Ark. – Police in Maumelle said that a social media post thought to be a threat to one of the schools in the area was not the case in a Monday afternoon update.

    In a social post made by the Maumelle Police Department , authorities said they received a tip Sunday night regarding a screenshot of a social media post that was believed to be a threat. Police said that the post was a screenshot of several posts.

    During an investigation, detectives said they found similar social media posts involving schools from other states.

    Investigators said a child contacted Maumelle police and admitted to sharing a post and adding a comment about Maumelle.

    Detectives with the Maumelle Police Department said that there is no threat to a Maumelle school.

    Detectives said they are continuing to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Maumelle Police Department at 501-851-1337.
