Texas, Louisiana, or Arkansas sports fans: who loses most sleep at night?

SHREVEPORT, la. ( KTAL/KMSS ) – Hey, sports fans. If you’re having trouble sleeping because your favorite team or athlete is not doing as well as you believe they should, you’re not alone.

According to a recent survey, around 25% of Americans are losing sleep at night for the very same reason.

The survey was conducted by Wetten.com and drew upon responses from more than 3000 sports fans across the country. They found that the average American sports fan lays awake for 62 minutes a night after their favorite team loses or performs poorly.

New Jersey fans have it the worst, losing an average of 91 minutes of sleep a night.

Utah sports fans lose less sleep over sports than anyone else in the nation. They lose approximately 23 minutes of sleep a night over sports.

What Southern states are losing the most sleep? Arkansas comes in second nationwide, with sports fans in the Natural State staying up an extra hour and a half a night, presumably because of the Hogs.

Texas sports fans stay awake an extra 68 minutes after a particularly rough game, though it’s not known whether they’re Cowboys fans or are upset about the Aggies.

Louisiana fans seem to be taking that eye of the tiger thing seriously, because they fall asleep faster than Arkansas and Texas sports fans. The survey said that Louisiana fans only lose 45 minutes of sleep a night, which could possibly mean that Louisianians have better taste in sports teams than both Texans and Arkansans.

But sports fans from Louisiana shouldn’t start bragging just yet, because Kentucky fans get more sleep than sports fans in any other Southern state. (Though fans in Mississippi were not polled.)
