ARDOT schedules overnight Saturday I-40 closure in North Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Arkansas Department of Transportation has scheduled a full closure Saturday night for eastbound Interstate 40 in North Little Rock.

ARDOT officials said all eastbound lanes at exit 153, at the Interstate 30 merge, will be closed from 9 p.m. Saturday and are expected to reopen by 3 a.m. on Sunday.

Officials said crews will be cleaning spilled fuel from the beams of the overpass and the road following a Friday morning crash that was cleared involving a tractor-trailer fire.

I-40 eastbound will close just after Exit 153, which officials say will force traffic to I-30 westbound, with a turnaround at Exit 142 (Curtis Sykes Exit) and then take I-30 Eastbound to I-40 Eastbound.

After ARDOT crews inspected the overpass on Friday, they said a column under the overpass will need to be repaired but it remains structurally sound.
